Sisters on a Struggle is a 501c3 organization created to reengage our youth and establish community while taking a stand against violent crime in New Orleans. Our mission is to help build community morale, encourage civic investment, and create safe fun for the children and families of our community. We are committed to the development and FUNdamentals of the city’s youth and hope you are too! That’s why we developed YouthDay NOLA.
YouthDay NOLA is a youth extravaganza that overtakes NORDC parks across the city one month at a time. The events are held the 4th Saturday of each month from 12pm – 5pm. Many say our youth need more positive things to do, so help us create just that – opportunities.
YouthDay NOLA consists of FREE music, food, raffles, games, performances, space walks, obstacle courses, resources, youth programming information, and more. Sisters on a Struggle has connected with almost 2000 community members, partnered with over 45 community organizations and has done it all out of their pockets for the last 9 months. (Ex: partnership with NOLA Keys has led to a free key board and lessons given away monthly) Our long-term goals are reach every child in the city yet we need community support to do it – your time, financial support and in-kind donations
Sisters on a Struggle is looking to expand to meet the needs of our community and our children. We have pin pointed eleven areas of financial/in-kind need and resources needed for growth.
